EARTHQUAKE VULNERABLE SECTORS IN BANGLADESH AND SOME MEASURES FOR RISK REDUCTION: AN OBSERVATION (Pages : 1 - 9)

Bangladesh has one of the highest levels of seismicity in Asia and world also, it is potential for the largest earthquake for its geographical location and geological formation of earth. This paper aims to explore the earthquake vulnerable sectors and some measures for risk reduction especially before the disaster phase. Many sectors in Bangladesh are very vulnerable to earthquake because of unplanned structural and infrastructural activities. Various types of building and structure and their construction material, design, susceptibility to damage are also discussed here. The way to reduce earthquake’s risk also mention in this article.
