S.M.L. RAHMAN, M.H.M.B. BHUYAN, A.A.M.M. MUSTAKIM, J.C. SARKER AND R.N. AHMEDThe study on the fruit characteristics, yield contributing characters and yield of twenty one mango genotypes was carried out at the fruit Research Farm and Laboratory of Citrus Research Station, BARI, Jaintapur, Sylhet, during February to June 2013. A wide variation was observed among the genotypes in respect of different characteristics under the present study. Per cent edible portion and total soluble solids (TSS%) were the highest in MI Jai 001 (66.86%) and MI Jai 012 (16.50%), respectively, while the lowest edible portion in MI Jai 012 (38.59%) and the lowest TSS in MI Jai 005 (9.13%). Heaviest (237.0 g) fruits with length and diameter of 9.50 cm and 6.87 cm was recorded in the genotype MI-Jai 005, whereas the lightest (95.33 g) fruits with length and diameter of 2.2 cm and 2.7 cm was noted in MI Jai 004. The highest number of fruits per plant (890) as well as highest yield per plant (135 kg/plant) were produced from the genotype MI Jai 014. Download
