INVESTIGATION OF VEGETATIVE GROWTH, FLOWERING AND FRUITING IN DIFFERENT STRAWBERRY GENOTYPES AT NARSINGDI DISTRICT (Pages : 6 - 10)

Four strawberry cultivars RABI 2, RABI 3, Camarosa, and Festival were evaluated at Regional Horticulture Research Station (RHRS), Narsingdi with BARI Strawberry-1 as check. The experiment was laid out in Randomize Complete Block Design with three replications during the rabi season of 2014-15. The genotype BARI Strawberry-1 gave earlier flowering to other genotypes. Maximum harvest duration was found in RABI 3 which was followed by BARI Strawberry-1 and minimum was found in RABI 2. Number of fruits per plant in RABI 3 was higher than that of other genotypes which was followed by Festival. The highest individual fruit weight was 21.45 g in Festival. TSS was found higher in RABI 2 and RABI 3. In respect of fruit size, fruit weight, and yield, contributing characters Festival was found superior to other genotypes. However, in aspect of taste and flavor, RABI 3 and BARI Strawberry-1 was superior to Festival which was less attractive compare to the other genotypes. Among the genotypes the best yield performance was in Festival under the field condition to Narsingdi region.Download
